Stanley Bridge
This bridge on the King's Road crossed what was a tidal inlet known as Counters Creek running from the present Chelsea Creek. The inlet became the line followed by the railway which once serviced the marshalling yards that are now the exclusive development of Chelsea Village and from which a branch, still in use, crosses the river. The Bishop of London as the holder of the manor of Fulham had the responsibility of maintaining this and two other bridges across the creek as it was before the 19th century, on the Hammersmith and Fulham Roads. This inundation determined the boundary between Fulham and Chelsea/Kensington.
