For some two hundred years now this area has been quite densely populated by any standards. For the past thousand years, because the river was a major thoroughfare and Westminster and Lambeth were major nodes in the government of church and state, the population here has had a particularly high proportion of the movers and shakers of each era together with those who supplied them with ideas, goods and labour. So, this set of historical incidents could be very large. History happens where there are people.
