Campbell-Bannerman, Sir Henry - Residence
Sir Henry (1836-1908) was sometime resident here at 6 Grosvenor Place, as recorded by a Blue Plaque. As prime minister, between 1905 and a week before his death, he gave effect to his 'pro-boer' sympathies and gave their republics independence. He was also a major early figure in the movement of constitutional reform that wanted the termination of the House of Lords as the UK's second chamber of parliament. The campaign he launched may be staggering to a conclusion in the present decade, one hundred years on.
