St Dionis Church
This church was built using the funds raised by the sale of a Wren church in the City of London, St Dionis Backchurch, which was demolished as redundant in 1878 (it has been noted that the Victorians demolished substantially more Wren churches than did the Luftwaffe). The font, altar table, and pulpit, possibly with Grinling Gibbons carving, came from the city church. The rectory demolished for this building in 1882 dated from 1707, when it replaced the parsonage there, and had been a school of various sorts for some fifty years.
