St John's, Walham Green

This church, built on the site of the old village pond, was consecrated 08/1828 to serve the community that had developed about the green. The adjacent churchyard has more than 500 graves for those buried before its closure in 1853. The church school which was also once adjacent was built to provide for 111 boys, 73 girls and 76 infants in 1836 at a cost of £797.
