Our purpose is to provide various information but mainly historical facts, conjectures and comments. Each item of information is related to an identified point in the course of or on the banks of the river Thames from the Tower of London to Windsor Castle.

There is a general overview here to give you a taste of what is to be on offer. The information is categorised under various topic headings against maps of five sectors of this stretch of river. Proceeding upstream, with the flood tide, you will be presented with:

• The 3.5 miles between The Pool below the Tower of London and Westminster bridge.
• The 5.5 miles between Westminster and Putney bridges.
• The 13 miles between Putney and Kingston bridges.
• The 14.5 miles between Kingston and Staines bridges.
• The 9.5 miles between Staines bridge and Boveney Lock above Windsor.
