The present Hammersmith Bridge
This was built at a cost of £82,117 to a design of Sir Joseph Bazalgette, who also designed the present Putney bridge. It was opened by the Prince of Wales (later Edward VII) on 11/06/1887. Bazalgette used substantial elements and features of the then existing bridge, designed and built by William Tierney Clark, which had been opened in October 1826.
The bridge connects Hammersmith Bridge Road, Hammersmith and Castelnau, Barnes.
