1725 c. Building of Maids of Honour Row, The Green
These houses were built to accommodate the maids of honour attending on Caroline of Ansbach in her marriage to the future George II. Caroline was to become a most enthusiastic resident developer of the nearby estate of Richmond Lodge (previously Ormonde Lodge).

1765 Opening of the Theatre Royal
The theatre was demolished 1883 and replaced by Garrick house which has in turn been replaced (1960) by Garrick Close..

1603 Death of Elizabeth I
She died in Richmond Palace, reportedly after trying to stave off the event by remaining on her feet. Supposedly her ring was dropped from an Outer Gateway window to a Sir Robert Carey to be taken to James I of England (James VI of Scotland) in Edinburgh with the proclamation that he was king
