Twining family - Residence
The Dial House, Riverside, Twickenham which is now the vicarage was the home of this family with a name which is still famed as a brand of tea. Miss Elizabeth Twining was responsible for several charitable acts to the benefit of the neighbourhood. In 1876 she was responsible for the rebuilding of the almshouses near St Mary's church and in 1879 founded a hospital. This, after a restart in 1885, was functioning as the local cottage hospital for 100 years.
