Bertrand Arthur William Russell, 3 rd Earl Russell (1872-1970) was a philosopher and mathematician who was also a prolific writer and very active politically. He spent his boyhood in Pembroke Lodge, Richmond Park being brought up by his grandmother, the widow of Lord John Russell sometime British Prime Minister.
