Stuart, Henry, Prince of Wales - Residence
Following the considerable use of Richmond Palace by Elizabeth and the other Tudors, James I of England (James VI of Scotland) did not favour it but his very talented first-born son Henry did. He gathered a considerable court here. From Richmond he would visit a friend Arthur Gorges at Kew Park, his sister Elizabeth Stuart who was under the care of John Lord Harington at Kew Farm and Lord Harington's son as well as Henry Carr, Earl of Ancrum. Henry died 1612 to be replaced as heir to the throne by Charles.
