Princess Amelia Sophia Eleanora, daughter of George II lived here in the old Gunnersbury House which was demolished in 1801 from 1763 -1786 when Ranger of Richmond Park. Unmarried and retired from her nephew's court she was a great hostess who, amongst other entertainments, used to take tea with her guests in the Temple which is still in the grounds. Horace Walpole was almost a regular weekly visitor.
