Now the Vicarage this was once the home of the Twining (renowned as Twinings teas) family. Miss Elizabeth Twining was responsible for several charitable acts to the benefit of the neighbourhood. In 1876 she was responsible for the rebuilding of the almshouses near St Mary's church and in 1879 founded a hospital. This, after a restart in 1885, was functioning as the local cottage hospital for 100 years.
