The large Mansion, Gunnersbury Park

The grand house that had been the home of Princess Amelia, an aunt of George III, was pulled down in 1801. The Large Mansion, now a museum, was built in 1802 when it was known as Gunnersbury Park distinguished from the Small Mansion then known as Gunnersbury House. This property was acquired by the Rothschilds in 1835 and the smaller in 1885. The park and the properties were acquired by the contiguous local authorities in 1925.
