Holy Trinity Church, Barnes

This church was built for the residents of the new developments, in the 19th century, along Castelnau. Services were held for a time in a building lent by a Major Charles L. Boileau. He was a descendant of the refugee French Protestant family ancient French family seat was at Castelnau de la Garde near Nimes and one of his forebears had built Castelnau house on land on what used to be called Bridge Road. The house has been replaced by the public library. The church was finished in 1868, costing £2,300, to seat 289 persons with, according to John Eustace Anderson's history '77 of these being free'.
