This convent located here next to the palace was founded in 1499 by Henry VII. The buildings were completed in 1506. Less than 30 years later, in May 1534, the Warden and several other friars were executed for their opposition to the Act of Supremacy which empowered his son to invalidate his marriage to Katherine.
