George I - Building
In 1724 he commanded that the Maids of Honour Row should be built here for the accommodation of ladies of the court attendant on the marriage of Caroline of Anspach who was thereby to become the Princess of Wales. This caused the destruction of a major remaining element of Henry VII's palace which had ranged along this south-west side of The Green.
