Queen Anne - Church benefactor
Queen Anne, as Lord of the Manor of Richmond, was petitioned for consent to the building of Kew's first church. She gave that permission, plus a piece of the 'waste' (common) of Kew Green as a site and £100 to the cost. She then took a continuing interest in the progress of its construction. She visited from time to time as she travelled between London and Windsor but she never worshipped here because she died only three months after its dedication, which was on 12/05/1714.
