Vancouver, Captain - Grave
Captain George (1757-98) was an English explorer and navigator who sailed on the 2 nd and 3 rd exploratory voyages of James Cook. As well as surveys of Australia and New Zealand he charted the North American west coast and sailed round Vancouver Island - proving that it was an island - in 1795. He is buried here in the churchyard of St Peter's church, Petersham
