Mrs Jordan was on the stage from childhood and gave memorable performances with Edmund Kean who was for a time the manager here at the Theatre Royal, Richmond.. She was the mistress of the Duke of Clarence (later William IV) for many years and lived with him and as mother to their many children at Bushy House which is only a couple of miles away.
