Although Hogarth (1697-1764) died in his town house in Leicester Fields (now Leicester Square) he is buried here in the graveyard of St Nicholas's church Chiswick which is close by his country home. His mother-in-law Dame Judith Thornhill (1673-1757) is also buried in the churchyard. The family tomb here bears there names and those of his sister Anne and his wife Jane.
