The Section of the Thames between the Bridges at Putney and Kingston

Bridges at these points were the first to be built above London Bridge. Kingston was built following the granting of a charter by King John early in the 13th century. Putney was the first where the subsequent combined grip of the City of London, the bargemasters and the ferry owners was broken, with the payment of considerable compensation in 1726-7
